Chase RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision and ended up tending to a victim injured in an unrelated crash nearby.

Chase RCMP got a two-for-one file after responding to a vehicle collision that resulted in a victim from an unrelated crash being taken to hospital.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 25, officers and Emergency Health Services responded to a call of a single-vehicle collision on the Adams Lake Forest Service Road where they found the vehicle down a 20-foot embankment. Despite the drop, neither the driver nor her dogs sustained any injuries.

"A witness explained that he watched the vehicle drift off the road for no apparent reason," Const. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said in a media release. "Suspecting the driver was impaired by alcohol, police attempted to obtain breath samples."

The driver, however, refused to comply with the breath demand and was given a 90-day driving prohibition and her vehicle was recovered and impounded for 30 days. Additionally, officers found she didn't have a licence or insurance and issued the appropriate violation tickets.

The police were in the right place at the right time then as, while dealing with that incident, some Good Samaritans brought another injured female and her dog for officers to attend to.

"This female had been injured in a second (unrelated) collision nearby," Van Wilgenburg explained. "She was found by the passersby, walking along the road in the dark, bleeding."

The ambulance returned and took the woman to hospital for treatment, while police took the dog to a local animal rescue for care and safekeeping.
